PRESIDENT Dr Irfaan Ali has promised that more funds will be allocated for the completion of synthetic tracks at the Bayroc Community Centre ground in Wismar, Linden and Burnham Park, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
President Ali made the affirmation while speaking at an Emancipation Day celebration in New Amsterdam.

“Before the end of this year – we’ve already met for the supplementary (funds) – you will see, at both tracks, work commencing to give you a final product that you deserve,” the President told the Berbice gathering.
In October 2018, BK International Inc. was awarded the contract for the Region Six track, to be built at Burnham Park to the tune of approximately $141M. Builders Hardware and General Supplies was given the nod for the facility at Bayroc Community Centre ground to the tune of $179M.

There were 14 tenders for the Region Six project and 12 for Region 10.
Currently, there is only one synthetic track in Guyana, located at Leonora, West Coast Demerara.
