MINISTER of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr, attended the 10th Commonwealth Sport Ministers’ Meeting in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Matters relating to human rights and inclusivity in sport, promoting investment in sport, and innovation post COVID-19 to develop a resilient sport sector were among the substantive agenda items.
The Secretary General of the Commonwealth, the Rt Hon. Patricia Scotland QC, was also in attendance along with more than 30 other Sport Ministers from Commonwealth nations.
During the meeting, Minister Ramson Jr advanced the importance of regional collaboration to create more opportunities for young athletes and established links to access technical support from the Commonwealth Secretariat.
The Minister also attended the opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games at the Alexander Stadium yesterday, where 32 athletes represented Guyana.
