10 finalists ‘gunning for’ US$8,000 ‘Miss World Guyana’ crown

– Over $5 Million in cash and prizes ‘up for grabs’

FOLLOWING a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Miss World Guyana competition is back with 10 young women set to compete for the crown and a chance to represent Guyana on the international stage.

This was revealed on Tuesday at the official launching conference by the Miss World Guyana franchise holders, Majesty International.

During the press conference, which was held at the Ramada Princess Hotel, Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD), the chairman of Miss World Guyana, Dave Laltoo said with the competition making its return, the company is delighted to partner with several entities to bring what they called an evolution to the industry.

The competition’s final events will run from August 1 to August 21, 2022. This year’s theme centres Guyana’s national flower, the Victoria Regia.

Laltoo, with much excitement, said: “the winner of Miss World Guyana 2022 competition wins over $5.5 million in cash and prizes including a car, designer wardrobe, a public relations marketing and portfolio enhancement package, a scholarship opportunity, international pageant training and coaching, and the opportunity to represent Guyana on the Miss World stage.”

Additionally, Laltoo announced that D&S Ramdeholl & Son Jewellery is the official crown maker for Miss World Guyana. The bejewelled headwear will be valued at US$8,000.

This crown, which will be passed from winner to winner, is also expected to feature over 3,000 local gems sourced by the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), and will be revealed soon.

Meanwhile, the 10 delegates who will be competing are Andrea King, Anjanie Lall, Arian Richmond, Emaley Nurse, Esther Marslowe, Krystal Collymore, Malinda Ho-A-Lim, Naina Pai, Raeshaunna Jones, and Trevlind Harry.

On August 1, Miss World Guyana delegates will participate in the appointment ceremony which will see the 10 delegates being officially sashed to represent one of the 10 administrative regions in the country.

The delegates will later in the month face off in a debate challenge, sports and fitness competition, and top model and talent competitions.

The grand coronation is expected to be held on August 21 at the National Cultural Centre (NCC). The NCC, it was said, will be transformed for the red carpet event.
