THE Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) has issued a wanted bulletin for the whereabouts of two men following the discovery of $10 million worth of cannabis in a vehicle at Dutchfour village, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The two men are Akeen ‘Chicken’ Daniels of Lot 489 Trafalgar, West Coast Berbice (WCB) and Shawn Sears called ‘Shawn Storm’ also of Trafalgar.

According to a release from CANU, their officers intercepted a motor vehicle on Sunday near Hope Canal. The antidrug officials were conducting an operation in Dutchfour village.

“The driver of the aforementioned vehicle abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot along the mud dam. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed several parcels of cannabis in two bags in the trunk,” the release said.

The motor vehicle, along with the suspected cannabis, was escorted to CANU headquarters, where narcotics testing was done. The substances tested positive for cannabis.

A total of 15 parcels were weighed which amounted to 33.4 kilograms. The street value of the narcotics, according to authorities, is approximately $10 million. This is an active investigation.

CANU authorities, in the statement, urged persons with any knowledge of the whereabouts of the two men to call the CANU Department on telephone number 227-3507.
