BOTH Guyana Boys and Girls teams secured wins in their opening rounds of the team segment of the Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Junior Championships.

Guyana toppled British Virgin Islands 3-2 in the opening round as Shomari Wiltshire and Nicholas Verwey delivered wins while Samuel Ince-Carvalhal and Ben Phang got default victories.

They will play their next match against Trinidad and Tobago from 09:00hrs today ahead of the conclusion tomorrow.

The girls also lead with wins over the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. It was a clean 5-0 sweep against Cayman Islands, compliments of wins by Abosaide Cadogan, Paige Mendonca, and Safirah Sumner then a 4-1 triumph over Bermuda.

The ladies have three more scheduled matches and would be hoping to improve the standings in a bid for Guyana to secure the overall title.

Compliments of Shomari Wiltshire, Avery Arjoon, and Nicholas Verwey, hosts Guyana won three out of the 10 gold medals up for grabs in the individual segment.
