FOURTH round action in the CWI Women’s T20 Blaze is set to continue today at the National Stadium , Providence with a mega clash between points leaders, Barbados and Jamaica, from 10.00hrs, followed by Windard Islands versus Trinidad and Tobago from 14: 30 hrs; then Guyana vs Leeward Islands from 19.00hrs.
Barbados and Jamaica secured wins on Saturday while Trinidad and Tobago earned their first victory in the competition, by 36 runs in a tense battle with the Leeward Islands in the last match of the day.
Batting first, Trinidad and Tobago made 108-7 thanks to a 53-run sixth wicket partnership between Lee-Ann Kirby (26) and the debutant, Djenaba Joseph (23).
Leewards bowlers, Tiffany Thorpe (2-10) and Rozel Liburd (2-14), snatched two wickets each in a decent bowling performance.
In reply, Leewards ended on 72-6 in 20 overs. Jenison Richards (24) and interim captain, Saneldo Willett (19) were the only players to reach double figures.
Spinners Karishma Ramharack (3-4) and Steffie Soogrim (2-17), strangled the opposition, as the Trinidadians won comprehensively.
Meanwhile, Guyana will be seeking a win, something they definitely need especially with the tournament coming to its end and they being tournament host.
