PRIME Minister Mark Phillips handed over the championship trophy and made a donation to the inaugural Prime Minister Independence Dominoes Tournament, which is scheduled to be held in Linden tomorrow.
According to organiser Aubrey Shanghai Major, over $1M in cash and prizes are up for grabs.

The winning team will collect $500 000 and the lien trophy, the second-placers $300 000 and the third-placed side $100,000.
Close to 40 teams, including several from Linden, Georgetown, Berbice, Bartica and on the East Bank have already registered for the event.

Major said that the trophy is being held at his residence in Central Amelia’s Ward.
The event is expected to become an annual event on Independence Day.

Prime Minister Phillips, the Guyana Tourism Authority and Ansa McAl are among the sponsors of this year’s event.
