Chanderpaul (140*), Motie (110) put Harpy Eagles in commanding position

… Barbados Pride 48-2 in response to Eagles’ 490-7

CONTRASTING centuries from Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Gudakesh Motie have given Guyana Harpy Eagles the upper hand after day two of their Regional Four-Day match against Barbados Pride at the Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad and Tobago.

At stumps, Pride are 48-2, still trailing by 442 after Eagles piled on 490-7 declared, led by the two centurions.

Shayne Moseley (17*) and Shai Hope yet to score will be the men to resume battle today as Veerasammy Permaul (1-2) and Keemo Paul (1-18) dismissed Kraigg Brathwaite (17) and Shamarh Brooks (2) before close of play.

Chanderpaul, who started the day on 64 went unto make his third first-class century -140 (14×4) from 434 balls – and found a solid partner in Gudakesh Motie who scored his maiden century.

Motie made 110 from just 118 balls and hammered 12 fours and four maximums as the former West Indies Under-19 teammates added 143 for the seventh wicket.


Chanderpaul and Anthony Bramble, who retired hurt on 38, had extended their partnership to 53 on a day where the Barbadian bowlers chased a lot of leather.

Debutant pacer Akeem Jordan was the most successful with 3-108 from 30 overs while Raymon Reifer had 2-37 from 15 overs and Keon Harding 1-104 from 24 overs.

Test spinner Jomel Warrican went wicket-less in his 28.4 overs which leaked 81 runs.
