V-NET Communications has continued its unwavering support for youth cricket, and more so for those who hail from the County of Essequibo. In their latest act they have registered four players to the Everest Cricket Club (ECC).
Under-19 cricketer Devon Ramratan, Under-17 Gladwin Henry, along with Under-15 cricketers Varindra Pooran, Nazaam Mohamed are now members of ECC. The 25 Delph Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, entity, which specialises in data and voice communication, will sponsor the needs of the quartet to play cricket in the city.
Some have already reaped success as Henry and Ramratan produced scores of 98* and 69 respectively on debut for Everest Under-19 side.
Pooran and Mohamed are members of the Essequibo Under-15 squad who competed in the recent inter-county tournament.
According to Chief Executive Officer of V-Net, Safraz Sheriffudeen, the company wanted to continue its tradition of investing in young talent by providing a more structured platform for youths to play the sport they love, and ideally, progress to the higher levels.
The biggest success story for the company is West Indies all-rounder Keemo Paul, who is now its Brand Ambassador, and who benefited from a similar benevolent initiative.
Before one of the U-15 matches, Paul, who is now vice-captain for Guyana Harpy Eagles, offered some inspirational words of advice to the Essequibo cricket team.
V-Net also treated the entire Under-15 squad and management to dinner at Big B’s located in MovieTowne mall, during their stint in the city.
