AMRITA Dharampaul, a former employee of NexLink Communication Inc., was on Friday released on $200,000 bail after allegedly embezzling almost $2 million from her place of work.
She appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where she pleaded not guilty to the charge.
It is alleged that between September 8, 2021 and October 21, 2021, Dharampaul committed the act which was uncovered after an audit conducted by the company reportedly revealed financial irregularities.
The court heard that a check was conducted on Dharampaul’s system, where it was observed that payments were backdated.
A check of the company’s surveillance cameras also showed Dharampaul placing monies in her jacket.
Dharampaul is to appear in court again on May 20.
