FROM 09:00hrs today, the Town of Bartica would welcome with open arms the competitive return of the Easter Regatta Power Boat Races which have become a main staple and attraction on the Regatta calendar.
The Formula 1/Class A events (Unlimited Power) are expected to feature four boats being piloted by Dave Scott aboard ‘Jaguar’. He is aiming to rake in his 9th championship title of this event.
It is understood that Randy Belle and the Gonsalves from Pomeroon will be bringing two boats for this category.
Among the other races listed for today, all being lucrative, Class C (75-90HP), Class B (115-200HP), Class D (25-40HP), Class E (15HP), Jet Ski, Bush Boat, and the Woodskin/Canoe.
Regional Chairman, Kenneth Williams, who is also Chairman of the Regatta Committee has informed that all systems are in place for a successful event which is being dubbed, ‘Bounce Back’.
The community of Bartica and, by extension all Guyanese, are eagerly awaiting this event, as you know we are coming back after two years, and this, as you know, is a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Regatta also presents a huge opportunity to boost the economics of our vendors and other service providers.”
Williams is expressing gratitude to the corporate community who, he said, had come on board at short notice to make the shortened edition of Regatta a success. He noted that the football competition, which was organised by the Bartica Football Association and which ended last night, was also a success.
