PROMISING Guyanese left-arm spinner Ashmead Nedd was selected by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to be one of their net bowlers in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
The News Room reported that the 21-year-old deemed the selection as “life-changing” given the quality of international players and support staff present in the league.
The opportunity came about upon recommendation from Nedd’s compatriot Sherfane Rutherford, who is currently part of the RCB squad. The former West Indies Under-19 player expressed immense gratitude for Rutherford’s input which has brought him closer to fulfilling a dream.
He highlighted that he has always watched the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Francois du Plessis and Josh Hazlewood on television, and he is now eager to work with “some of the best professionals” in world cricket.
“Going there as a spinner could really help me with my game. I want to ask simple stuff about their routine as a professional and how I can better my game as a youngster moving forward.”
Nedd has played seven matches for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and has taken three wickets along with an economy rate of 5.64.)
