The music was a distraction

Dear Editor,
The heart-centred approach of the Ali administration is resonating with the population.

Government welcomes constructive criticism and this is sent in that spirit. I recently watched (on Facebook) President Ali’s address at the Guyana Tourism Awards. The President made several important points and announcements. However, the background music was more in the foreground and made it difficult to hear and concentrate on what His Excellency was saying. It was competing for attention and was almost drowning him out. A short continuous loop kept repeating and the effect was distracting and irritating. I almost got a headache.

The President’s speech is not a movie or dramatic production. It is not enhanced by loud and monotonous music. At most, such music can be played as a one-minute intro and outro. The President’s address is sufficiently interesting to hold our attention. Government might want to review other video productions to see if distracting music is an issue.

Wishing the First Family and all my Guyanese brothers and sisters a safe, blessed and enjoyable Christmas season. The Main Street light up is fantastic!

Yours faithfully,

Sieyf Shahabuddeen
