A TRUCK, with registration GYY 6066, operating on the Number 62 Village Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice, burst into flames, Friday morning, while being driven by 53-year-old, Liston Velloza.
Reports indicated that Velloza was driving his motor lorry, proceeding north on the western driving lane at the aforementioned Public Road when his right side rear tyre exploded, causing the vehicle to swerve to the left side parapet, resulting in a stop.
Police Headquarters noted that the truck subsequently burst into flames from the engine compartment which caused the driver to exit the vehicle.
A fire tender attached to the Skeldon Fire Station was summoned to the scene and the fire officers went into action and extinguished the fire. The entire engine compartment and front of the lorry were destroyed.
Police said the driver of the vehicle received no injury and an investigation is ongoing.
