La Cruz spikes Pakuri Warriors to championship win over Castrol Strikers

THE ladies of Pakuri Warriors, led by MVP Camiza La Cruz, romped to a clinical win as they were crowned champs following Sunday’s Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) Female Festival held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The one-day tournament featured 5 teams including Berbice Strikers, Premier Eagles and Laluni. The Warriors eventually whipped their opponents from Castrol by a handsome scoreline 25-22, 14-25, 15-13, wrapping up the final leaving their opponents to settle for second best and Berbice Strikers in third place.

Pakuri Warriors ace spiker, La Cruz, was adjudged Most Valuable Player/Best Spiker. Prizes for La Cruz included a trophy and $10 000, compliments of sponsors Trophy Stall and Heavy Equipment Technical Training Institute.

Meanwhile, Alianna Charles represented Castrol Strikers with efficiency to cop the Best Setter award.
Meanwhile, Warriors bagged additional prizes after the likes of Sunita Causeway won the Most Senior Player prize while Berbice Females Strikers’ Tiea Issacs was named Most Promising Player of the tournament.
