THE Ministry of Education has received over 1,000 pieces of furniture from Food For The Poor (Guyana) Inc. (FFTP) to be distributed to schools across Guyana to benefit students and teachers.

According to a release, in total, 41 bookcases, 762 chairs, 461 student desks, 12 teacher desks, 34 file cabinets, 61 tables and one storage cabinet were handed over to the ministry on Monday. Receiving the donation on behalf of the ministry was Education Minister Priya Manickchand.

FFTP Chief Executive Officer Kent Vincent said he looks forward to continued collaboration between the organisation and the Ministry of Education to make the lives of both learners and teachers better.

Minister Manickchand expressed similar sentiments and noted that the two entities should highlight priority areas to make the established partnership even more meaningful.

The items will be stored at the Ministry of Education’s Book Distribution Unit (BDU) until such time that they are distributed to the schools that need them most.

Also present at the handing over was Coordinator of the Book Distribution Unit, Darshini Balac and Jonelle DeViera, FFTP’s Public Relations Officer.
