-Miss, Mrs. and Miss Teen India Guyana also crowned in glamourous style

Elegance and charm decorated the environs of the Princess Ramada Hotel last Sunday evening, where the Miss India Guyana franchise holders hosted a captivating multi-component pageant.

The extravaganza saw the crowning of the 2021 Mr., Miss, Mrs. and Miss Teen India Guyana representatives.

It was a kaleidoscope of rich Indian culture as the event opened with the Miss India finalists who brought to sashayed across the stage with much poise and glamour. By the end of the evening wear, talent, ethnic wear and intelligence segment, second timer Maya Persaud emerged the winner with Lisa Narine as first runner up and Nandanie Sharma as second runner up.

The event also marked the first staging of the Mrs. India Guyana title which saw the top three finalists performing well in all segments. Eventually, Mrs. Melessa Seupaul was adjudged the winner while the first runner up position went to Mrs. Bibi Sahadeo and second runner up was awarded to Mrs. Amelia Bakhsh.

Similarly, 2021 also marked the first staging of the Miss Teen India Guyana category. The Top three finalists participated in all segments for a chance to represent Guyana. Ultimately, Miss Beauty Razack was received the crown while the youngest delegate, 15-year-old Yashmeta Lall of Essequibo copped the first runner-up position, followed by Berbican, Chandani Misir as second runner-up.

The evening also featured the inaugural Mr India Guyana category, which provides an important platform for young men to embrace their culture, while promoting their brand and purpose. This aspect of the pageant saw an impressive line-up of nine talented and well-rounded gentlemen who, according to a press release, have worked exceptionally hard, and manage to debut with a high level of perfection.

The event culminated with Mario Moonsammy assuming his historic role as the first ever Mr. India Guyana. Moses Ally was named first runner-up, followed by the designing sensation himself, Randy Madray.

The organization also executed its annual “Woman of Substance Award” which honours present and past beauty queens of Guyana who have and continue to make outstanding contributions in their respective fields.

This year, the award was given to Miss World Guyana 2017, Vena Mookram, who was recognised for her consistent dedication towards improving the lives of Guyanese living below the poverty line. Mookram has been instrumental in the execution of food donation exercises and offering medical and financial assistance to those in need. She was also lauded for successfully launching a fitness park in her community of Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara.

Trinidadian model and actor, Suveer Ramsook co-hosted the event alongside Mrs. India Guyana 2018, Shivanie Latchman. A highlight of the evening was a dance-off between Latchman and Ramsook to Guyana’s ‘Poowah’ song, sung by Vanita Willie.

The event also featured a distinguished panel of experienced judges, led by Chief Judge, Joel Ghansham. The Miss, Mrs. and Miss Teen winners will represent Guyana at the worldwide pageants scheduled for February 2021.

All components of the pageant were organised by husband-wife franchise holders, Mr. Hashim Ali and Mrs. Melicia Partab-Ali.
