MEDICALLY uninsured and low-income women will now have greater access to free radiation therapy and mammograms services following a $250,000 donation made to the Guyana Cancer Foundation by Grace Kennedy Money Services.

The donation coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
At the simple handing-over ceremony held on Tuesday, Founder and President of the foundation, Bibi Hassan, noted that the money will go towards covering the cost of treatment for several women.

“This will go towards our screening programme…we have over 300 women waiting to be screened for breast cancer. We will also be paying for a fraction of radiology therapy,” Hassan said.

Meanwhile, Hassan expressed gratitude to the company for the contribution.

She noted that the fight against cancer is made a little easier when companies join the fight.
Hassan added that the foundation has teamed up with the Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital to roll out the free services.
