NATIONAL cricketer Bhaskar Yadram blazed his way to a quickfire 44 to lead Richmond Hill Liberty to an eight-wicket victory in the latest round of the NYNCL Rockaway Group T20 League, which was played on Sunday at Baisley ground.

Elite Cricket Club, who have the services this season of one of Liberty’s top batsmen, Dino Choo-wee-nam, won the toss and opted to take first strike. It was the hard-hitting opener, Choo-wee-nam, who led the attack against his regular side.

He spanked four sixes and five fours from 34 balls for a match-high 54 runs, with only Arif Mohammed with 14 from nine balls (3X4s) reached double figures also, as the other Elite batsmen were outdone by quality bowling and poor shot selections.

By the penultimate over, Liberty’s bowling attack had done enough to restrict Elite CC for 91.
Leon Mohabir finished with a very economical 3-4 from 3.4 overs, while skipper and former national U19 cricketer, Trevor Henry, took 2-22 from four overs and Keron Sewnarine 2-3 from two overs.

Needing to score at 4.6 runs per over for victory, Yadram wasted no time in the middle. The opener spanked four sixes and three fours for a 19-ball 44.

He dominated his opening 65-run partnership with former National U19 cricketer, Azeemuddin Khan. Khan scored 16 (2X4s) from 14 balls.
Christopher Blucher also played a few shots for 23 runs (1X4, 1X6) from 16 balls, including a six that won the clash, as Liberty knocked off the runs in 8.5 overs.
