NATIONAL cricketer Chandrapaul Hemraj blasted an unbeaten century to spur Samp Army to an eight-wicket victory against Brampton Pacers on the opening day of the 2021 Atlanta Open T20 League on Thursday in Atlanta, Georgia.

Former West Indies Test cricketer Assad Fudadin and national cricketer Akshay Homraj were also in the side, but only Hemraj had a chance in the middle.

Bampton Pacers won the toss and opted to bat, with Jamaican cricketer Paul Palmer leading the charge.
The 29-year-old, who batted at number three, belted seven fours and six sixes for a 56-ball unbeaten 98.

He might have reached his century if his teammates supported him. Only former West Indies Test cricketer Chadwick Walton with 20 (2X6s) from 17 balls and Carlos Brown (11 runs from 18 balls), reached double digits scores. This lull in the latter stage of the innings restricted the side to 160-7 from their allotted overs.

Saurab Netravalker led the bowling attack for the winners with 3-28 from four overs, while Raymond Refeer took 2-35 from four overs.

In the chase, Hemraj asserted his dominance with a blistering 113 from 40 balls. The 28-year-old, who scored an aggressive half-century last Sunday in the New York National Cricket League, Cricket Zone T20 Cup, continued his belligerent hitting yesterday. In his innings, he struck 14 huge sixes and four fours, which helped to skyrocket the side to 163-2 in 12 overs.
