A FORTY-TWO-year-old Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Corporal is in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he crashed his car PYY991 into the Russian Embassy on the Rupert Craig Highway in the wee hours of Saturday.

Police Headquarters reported that Dwayne Samuels, who is stationed at Camp Ayanganna and resides at Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara, was speeding west along the highway at around 01:12 hours when he lost control while navigating the turn at the Russian Embassy.

Police said the GDF rank collided into a billboard situated on the western parapet; the car toppled further in a western direction and then collided into a concrete block before it flipped over the concrete fence and then came to a halt in the compound of the Russian Embassy.

Members of the Guyana Fire Service were summoned and later removed the driver who was in a semi-conscious state. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by the EMTs.
