Like everything else in our lives, the damning coronavirus has affected the way we celebrate Indigenous Heritage Month, which honours the indelible contributions that our Amerindian brothers and sisters have made to this dear land of ours.

Even though September 2021 will not be characterised by its usual pomp and ceremony, we hope that Guyanese from all walks of life will use the period to reflect and appreciate our shared heritage and the role that the indigenous peoples have played in creating the Guyana we know and love today.
