A FORTY-FOUR-year-old woman of Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara courageously trailed three male bandits and intercepted them by slamming her Audi Q5 into their vehicle on Friday, immediately after they robbed her in front her house.

According to a police report, at approximately 14:45 hours on Friday, the victim returned home after visiting a bank located at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, when she noticed a silver Toyota 212 motorcar bearing registration number PNN 6481 at the back of her vehicle while she was entering her yard.

Two males, one armed with a black handgun, then exited the car, approached the victim and demanded money from her. As she attempted to resist, one of the men discharged a round in her direction and they then snatched a brown envelope containing US$1,500 and GYD$290,000, a red iPhone XR and a multi-coloured bag containing a quantity of documents.

The suspects then re-joined their vehicle, in which the driver was waiting and attempted to escape, however, the victim followed the escape car and managed to brace the car with her vehicle into a nearby drain causing one of the men to receive injuries while the other two escaped on foot.

Police were immediately summoned to the scene and managed to recover the stolen articles. In addition, several other items were found in the escape vehicle including a gold iPhone SE, and a Samsung Galaxy phone.

Police reported that subsequent to examining the vehicle, it was observed that registration number PTT 7930 was engraved on the front, back and four door windows, while HC 7472 was seen under the number plate.

The suspect, who received injuries, was apprehended with the help of public-spirited citizens and handed over to the police.
He was transported to the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital to seek medical attention and investigations in the matter are ongoing.
