Guyana Carnival 2022 slated for grand November launch

An important advisory has been issued for partygoers and fete fanatics all across Guyana to get in shape; oil those waistlines and assemble your trusted crew, because after its two-year hiatus, Guyana Carnival gearing up for an exciting come back.
The Buzz has managed to confirm that the much-anticipated Guyana Carnival 2022 is slated to be launched in November. The event was conceptualised by Hits and Jams Entertainment to coincide with Guyana’s Independence Day celebrations on May 26.
Since its first hosting in 2018, Guyana Carnival has grown exponentially, attracting thousands to Guyana’s shores for an exhilarating week of fun, frolic and endless gyration.

The event is usually launched six months in advance to give patrons sufficient time to get their bodies, their monies and their wardrobe in order. The planning committee for the event are hopeful that all goes well, and that next year’s Guyana Carnival can have a safe and smooth launch under the theme “Jus Events”.
As part of the launch, the committee is planning to host a series of enticing events which is expected to include club parties, pool parties, j’ouverts, concerts, and a brunch; these events will run from November 25-28, 2021. “In keeping with the COVID-19 guidelines, entry to these events will require proof of COVID-19 vaccinations. Persons will also be required to wear face masks and have their temperature checked before entering the venue. Venue occupancy will be 40 per cent and the layout will encourage groups to social distance,” the committee said.

In order to ensure the rolling out of all planned activities, the organisers are preparing to engage the Government of Guyana, the National COVID-19 Task Force, the Civil Defence Commission (CDC), and all other stakeholders in the coming weeks. Miami Carnival, Barbados’ Crop Over, and Cayman Island’s Carnival will all be hosted later in the year with similar guidelines. “In the almost 18 months of lockdown, Guyana Carnival nor its parent company Hits and Jams Entertainment has promoted or hosted events during this period, we believe that with careful planning and proper implementation, we can successfully host the Launch of Guyana Carnival 2022,” the committee indicated. Should all go well, Guyana Carnival 2022 will be hosted from May 20 – 29. We at the Buzz have our vaccination cards in order and we can’t wait to feed the party hunger that this dreaded pandemic has created.
