PUGNACIOUS batsman Shimron Hetmyer has been appointed vice-captain of the Guyana Amazon Warriors team for this year’s Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) which gets underway today, at Warner Park, St Kitts. The Guyanese, who has been with the franchise since 2016, will act as deputy for Nicholas Pooran, who would have recently led West Indies to 4-1 series success over Australia in St Lucia. The other members of Amazon Warriors’ management are: Lead coach, Rayon Griffith; Strength and Conditioning coach, Clinton Jeremiah; Trainer, Dr Jason Pilgrim, and Team Operations Manager, Omar Khan. The five-time finalists will play in the tournament’s opening match, against defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders from 10:00hrs.
