A 25-year-old of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo was, on Monday, arrested and placed into police custody after ranks, carrying out a search operation within the vicinity, discovered four grammes of cannabis in his yard. According to Police Headquarters, between 10:00hrs and 14:00hrs, ranks carried out a raid exercise in the #1 Sub Division for guns, ammunitions, drugs and stolen articles at several addresses. Police reports that one bulky transparent plastic containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis, was found in a small storeroom at the back of the suspect’s yard. The suspect was cautioned about the offence committed, and, according to police, subsequent to being cautioned, he replied: “is just lil weed, please for a chance.” He was arrested and escorted to the Leonora Police Station, along with the suspected cannabis which amounted to four grammes when weighed. The suspect remains in custody pending charges.
