THE preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder of 24-year-old Paul Chase, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his older brother, commenced, on Wednesday, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Quincy Chase, is before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the capital offence which alleged that, on June 25, 2021, at Cummings Street, Bourda, Georgetown, he murdered his brother.
During Wednesday’s hearing, two witnesses testified. The case was adjourned until today.
According to the prosecution, the brothers lived together and would make daily trips to their mother’s Cummings Street home for meals.
On the date in question, their mother confronted Quincy about a burnt spot on a mattress. Quincy reportedly became annoyed and dealt his mother a cuff to her face which caused her to receive injuries to her left eye.
Paul immediately confronted Quincy, who armed himself with a knife and inflicted a stab wound to the left side of Paul’s chest.
Members of an emergency medical team later pronounced Paul dead. Quincy was arrested and later charged.
