FORMER Essequibo cricketer Telston Johnson ripped through Elite Cricket Club’s batting order to propel his side, Galaxy Cricket Club, to a nine-wicket victory in the latest round of the Caribbean Fest 40 Overs Tournament at Baisley Ground in New York.

The opening bowler helped to dismantle the top order before he returned to clean up the tail after the pre-dominant Guyanese side, Galaxy CC, won the toss and opted to field.
Johnson’s line-and-length bowling resulted in the dismissal of three batsmen via the caught-and-bowled route and two via lbw as he finished with 5-31 from six overs.

With only two fours and a six in the entire innings and nine of the 11 batsmen failing to reach double figures, Elite CC laboured to 75 all out in 20 overs.
Galaxy CC skipper Yudesh Bissnauth supported with 2-11 from three overs.

Bissnauth then equalled Elite’s overall boundary count when he smashed two fours and a six in his 19 runs.
After he fell, bowled by Michael Sultan, fellow opener Keeran Krishna (21 not out 2×4) and Hemendra Ramdihal (26 not out 4×4, 1×6) propelled the side to victory in 7.3 overs.
