– “Those People” deemed to be ‘bare laughs’

The players of Guyana’s comedy circle will no longer be allowing the COVID-19 pandemic to stifle their creativity and starve their fans of hilarious content. Luckily for us, on Sunday, August 1 – Emancipation Day 2021, the team at Signature Productions emerged to rescue our wits with the premiere of their first-ever sitcom called “Those People.”
Aired on Television Guyana (TVG), the show follows the lives of a diverse group of colourful characters who experience life in a “simultaneously hilarious and tumultuous fashion,” according to local comedian and actor, Leza Singh, who is best known for her portrayal as the bubbly and naïve ‘Radicka’ on multiple stage shows.
In the sitcom, ‘Radicka’ assumes her new role as ‘Noreen,’ a woman with endless ‘gyaffs,’ and baseless brags, who is seemingly oblivious to the tenets of sarcasm. “The characters are all living in one neighbourhood and, as the show progresses, viewers will see their lives intersect as the writers take them on a comedic adventure,” Leza dished.

The biggest laughs surround ‘Beyonce’ and ‘Toya’ serving ‘Noreen’ an overdose of sarcasm

She reasoned that within every neighbourhood there are always “Those People” – “those people who always play their music too loud, those people who like to mind everybody else’s business but their own, those people who always ‘give them more to talk,’ etcetera.”

“They are the most fun, outrageous, [and] ratchet bunch of people,” Singh noted.
The show also prominently features the hilarious Michael Ignatius as Beyonce, and Clemencio Goddette as Toya. These two characters are sure to keep you cracking up.
The other supporting actors include Mark ‘Chiney Man’ Kazim, Opara Samuels, Shivanie Latchman, Jermaine Grimmond, Rajan Tiwari, and Natoya Thomas, along with a number of other fresh, new faces. The show is slated to be aired on TVG this and every Sunday at 19:00hrs. It will also be aired on Facebook pages: ‘Nothing to Laugh About’, ‘Love & Laughter’, ‘UNCENSORED’ and ‘Sauce it Up’, as well as Signature Comedy’s YouTube Channel. “Episodes of the sitcom have been uploaded to our social media and the response has been overwhelming,” Leza Singh told the Buzz. She said that the response from viewers have confirmed the team’s conviction that locals are thirsty “for this level of continuous Guyanese entertainment.”
The show is powered by: KFC Guyana, Edward B. Beharry & Co. Ltd., Transpacific Motors Spares and Auto Sales, Beesons Windows & Doors, 401 furniture, S. Jagmohan Construction, MVP Sports, Urban Life, Peppy’s Foods, Vintage Café, Amanda’s Bridal and Daddy’s Enterprise.
