Meanwhile, there are currently 735 active COVID-19 cases in Guyana following the addition of 24 new cases on August 3, 2021.
These positive cases were among the 839 tests conducted by the ministry’s officials. Of the active cases, 12 persons are at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National Infectious Diseases Hospital, Liliendaal; 87 are in institutional isolation; 648 are in home isolation and two are in institutional quarantine.
The MoH expressed sincerest condolences to the families of the two deceased and said every effort will be made to provide all the necessary support and render whatever assistance may be needed. The ministry is also appealing to the general public to respect the confidentiality of the women and their families and to allow them to mourn their tragic loss in peace.
