FOUR men are in police custody after being allegedly found with two 12-gauge shotguns and matching ammunition at 19 Miles Kwakwani/ Ituni in Region 10, on Wednesday.
According to police reports, the men, whose ages are 34, 23, 62 and 55 respectively, were traveling in an unlicensed tractor when they were stopped by ranks on patrol in the Ituni Station District. The ranks had observed that the tractor did not have a registration number.
Following a request for information made by the ranks, a search of the tractor and its occupants resulted in the discovery of the shotguns which were hidden at the side of the vehicle and behind the driver’s seat respectively. Police disclosed that 11 matching rounds were also allegedly discovered in the pockets of two of the suspects.
The men were arrested and taken to the Mackenzie Police Station where they remain in custody.
The firearms and ammunition are lodged in police custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
