TWO more COVID-19 deaths, announced by the Ministry of Health, on Tuesday, have taken the COVID-19 death toll for July to 23 and the overall COVID-19 toll to 499.
The latest fatalities are a 50-year-old female and a 79-year-old male, both from Region Four, who succumbed to the virus while receiving medical care at Ministry of Health facilities.
Additionally, the Health Ministry has recorded 53 new cases of COVID-19, with 1,505 tests carried out for July 12, 2021.
Of these, Region One recorded three; Region Two, one; Region Three, 11; Region Four, 12; Region Five, three; Region Six, 22; and Region Nine, one.
The newly infected persons were 29 males and 24 females.
To date, 10 persons occupy the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while 77 are institutionally isolated, 1,209 are isolated at home, and three in institutional quarantine.
Of Guyana’s 21,055 confirmed cases since the advent of COVID-19 in Guyana, 1,299 are currently being monitored, while 160 of Guyana’s 19,260 recoveries were recorded within the past 24 hours.
All Guyanese are urged to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures, which emphasise the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving home, the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others, and the need for good hand hygiene to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
