— through collaboration between newspaper company and Mobile Money

CUSTOMERS of the Guyana National Newspapers Limited (GNNL) can now effect payment of bills for advertisements, as well as purchases of the Sunday and Daily Guyana Chronicle, using the Mobile Money Guyana (mmg+) service.

GNNL’s General Manager, Moshamie Ramotar, in commenting on this initiative, said: “This offers our customers a payment method that is more convenient and easily accessible, particularly for our valued customers outside of Georgetown. We are pleased to collaborate with mmg+ on this initiative.”

Ramotar explained that the partnership with Mobile Money Guyana (mmg+) represents the latest in a series of efforts being made to ensure easy access to the services offered by GNNL. These services include the sale of Daily and Sunday Guyana Chronicle, classified ads, and other advertisements in the newspapers, as well as on the Guyana Chronicle website.

The General Manager said: “Our newspaper vendors can use this service. Our advertisers, including those who have credit accounts with our company, and anyone wishing to place a classified ad, or access any of the other services we offer, can do so more easily now. Our efforts to ensure that the services we offer are increasingly accessible are continuing.”

Meanwhile, General Manager of mmg+, Bobita Ram, in commenting on the partnership said: “The mmg+ team welcomes the collaboration with GNNL as we continue to enable businesses to extend their customer reach and access the technology to make doing business easier for their customers.” She further highlighted that especially in this period of a pandemic, the mmg+ service has been integral in keeping businesses operational while keeping their customers safe.

The mmg+ service, secured by passwords for individual users, is Guyana’s first mobile financial service and was introduced in 2013. It enables customers to purchase credit, send and receive money in addition to paying bills using their mobile phones, via the web at www.mymmg.gy or at any mmg+ agent nationwide.

GNNL is mmg+’s latest biller partner. mmg+ is a licensed mobile money service which allows customers to pay bills, shop, do mobile recharges, and send money anytime, anywhere. Users can conduct transactions via a secure platform through iOS and Android apps, via the web as well as through USSD (by dialing *123#) technology. The platform is password-protected so they can enjoy the latest security with more money flexibility.
