Badminton Shuttle Time project introduced in Linden schools

ON Monday two schools in Linden were introduced to the sport of badminton by the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) through its Shuttle Time project.
Students from the Mackenzie High School and the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School were taught the fundamentals of the game by the country’s top badminton players and world-ranking siblings Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani.

Other members of the visiting team, including GBA president Gokarn Ramdhani, vice-president Ayanna Watson and secretary Emelia Ramdhani also made presentations of racquets, shuttlecocks and nets to the schools.
Players with potential at both schools were also presented with personal racquets by the Ramdhani siblings.

In a release, GBA expressed gratitude to Headmaster Haslyn Small, Deputy Head Auja Sealey and PE teacher Shavin Green of Mackenzie High School; Headmistress Ms Shellanne Craigwell and PE Teacher Selon Peters of Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School for arranging the large turnout of students for this Shuttle Time Projects at their respective schools.

“The GBA would also like to thank Mr Lindley Langhorne (Head – Physical Education Allied Arts) for arranging the two schools so that we were able to execute the Shuttle Time Projects.”.
Last week the programme served off with two schools in Berbice. The executive of the GBA had visited the New Amsterdam Multilateral and the Berbice High schools where similar presentations were held.
