NY Guyanese-American endorsed for election

Dear Editor,

THE New York Democracy Project endorses Guyanese-American Felicia Singh for a City Council seat, District 32, that encompasses parts of Richmond Hill, Ozone Park, Woodhaven, and surrounding areas. The election is on Tuesday, June 22 (today) with voting from 6 am till 9 pm.
The NY-based Guyana Democracy Project comprises Guyanese and others supporting democracy in Guyana. The group played a significant role in combating electoral fraud in the last election.
The group is led by Dr Tara Singh, who is the President with this writer as secretary. Dr Singh is a former UG Senior lecturer in Sociology.
The group says that Felicia Singh is a very talented community activist who exudes much compassion, especially towards the disadvantaged. “She will make an excellent city councillor and represent our Guyanese diaspora effectively,” a statement said.
It adds: “Despite our numeric political strength, we have not been able to elect a Guyanese to the position of city councillor. Now is the time.” The group urges Guyanese and others to vote for Felicia Singh.

Yours truly,
Vishnu Bisram
