Sheriff Medical Centre offering ambulance services

SHERIFF Medical Centre has launched its Ambulance Services with the aim of providing the general public with swift and easy access to an ambulance in times of emergencies, while enhancing the healthcare sector. According to a release, the state-of-the-art ambulances are staffed with a number of emergency doctors, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), registered nurses, dispatchers and drivers, and are available daily at an affordable cost. “There was an incident where we had a patient, who needed further treatment from a City hospital, and we made numerous calls to get that patient an ambulance, but we never did. As a result, we had to transport that patient in a taxi to a City hospital,” Shemar Alleyne, the company’s Marketing Manager, said. “If now that patient needed oxygen – the taxi wouldn’t have been able to provide this, and the situation could have been worse. Thankfully that was not the case.”
He added that the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Shareef Ahmad, decided to take up the mantle of offering this service so that another family does not have to go through a similar situation. “Our state-of-the-art ambulances are well-equipped and on par with the ambulance being provided in Cuba, the United States, and other developed countries,” he said while adding that, “this service is not only available to patients of SMC, but anyone who needs a transportation or have an emergency can call us on 226-2000 and have an ambulance.”
The Marketing Manager disclosed that the company is working to ensure that there are about two ambulances in every region throughout Guyana.
