BRITON John has a 33-point lead on his closest opponent in the points-classification of the Guyana Cycling Federation, which was updated this week.
The Independence cycling champion, who had crossed the finish line first in the National Cycling Championships road race, last month, but was relegated to fourth, due to a lane infraction, has so far accumulated 93 points. His closest competitor is Christopher Griffith with 60 points. Jamual John, who finished second in the Independence Meet, is fourth in the senior division on 53 points, with Paul DeNobrega (third in the National 100-mile road race) in fourth on 49 points and US-based Raynauth Jeffrey in fifth on 41 points.
Jeffrey won the second leg of the Independence Championships and was crowned the 2021 National Time Trial champion.
Masters competitor Alex Mendes, who had done extremely well in the early meets, is in sixth with 30 points.

Meanwhile, Romello Crawford, who was adjudged the winner of the 2021 National Cycling Championships road race, was able to amass 20 points from the win.
Marcis Keiler is eighth on 17 points and Curtis Dey ninth on 13 points, Deoraj Gharbarran, with eight points, rounds off the top 10.
Despite falling in last Sunday’s National Masters road race (criterium format), Mendes is still ahead in that division with 35 points.
Winner of the 2021 National Masters Time Trial, Stephen Fernandes, is second on 24 points, with Paul Choo-wee-nam third on 18 points.
Walter Grant-Stuart, who finished fifth overall in the Senior National road race battle, is fourth on 16 points, with Jaikarran Sukhai fifth on 13 points.

Junior Niles (seven points), Kwame Ridley (four points), Segun Hubbard (three points), Johann Burrowes (three points) and Lyn Murray (two points) are also on the list.
Dominant Independence Three-Stage champion and National Cycling Time Trial and Road Race champion Suzanne Hamilton has doubled her closest competitor in the Ladies division.
Her 20-point tally leaves Shenika Teixeira in second spot with 10 points. Aneisha Crandon and Clivecia Spencer are tied for third on six points, with Selena Spencer in fifth on two points.
In the Junior Division, the 2021 National road race champion Aaron Newton is ahead on 26 points, with Mario Washington and National Time Trial champion Alex Leung tied for the second position on 22 points. David Hicks is fourth on 18 points, with Sherwin Sampson on 10, Amani King on six, Andrew Forrester on four and Mark Lewis Jr also on four.
