Trio charged for unlawful firearm, ‘ammo’ possession

THREE men, who were allegedly found with an illegal firearm and matching ammunition in their possession, were, on Friday, placed on $200,000 bail each when they made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.

The charges state that Brandon Barker, Tahj Fraser and Keith Cains, on May 26, 2021, at Brickdam, Georgetown, had in their possession a .32. Taurus pistol and two rounds of matching ammunition when they were not the holder of a firearm licence.

It is alleged that on the day in question, police, who were on mobile patrol duty, observed a suspicious car, PYY5049, parked with the three defendants seated inside. In their presence, a search was conducted on the car and the firearm and ammunition were reportedly found hidden under the driver’s seat. The men were told of the allegation and arrested.

Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus ordered that they be placed on $100,000 bail on each charge.

The matter was adjourned to June 25, 2021.
