Four bandits kick down door, rob couple

FOUR armed masked bandits broke into the home of a Craig, East Bank Demerara couple on Friday night and robbed them of cash and jewellery.

According to a police report, Zahir Narine and Bibi Khan were asleep at the Second Street, Craig house when they were awakened by a loud knocking on the front door.

As they ventured into the living room, the door was kicked open and the four masked bandits, armed with knives and cutlasses, rushed in and relieved them of several items amounting to a total value of $320,000.

Such included $207,000 cash, one black PLUM cellphone valued at $15,000, a five pennyweight gold chain valued at $50,000 and one gold-coloured Samsung cellphone valued at $48,000.

Narine received injuries to his forehead during the robbery.

The bandits then made good their escape on foot through the backyard of the victims’ residence.
