Mackenzie Sports Club to hold AGM, Biennial Elections on May 30

COMING out of Mackenzie Sports Club’s April 15 Statutory Meeting, held at the MSC pavilion, a decision was taken that the important MSC’s Annual General Meeting and Biennial Elections will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2021 from 15:00hrs at the MSC main pavilion.
The current administration of the MSC is led by its president Avery Trim, with Joseph Chapman as General Secretary. The Government of Guyana had approached the MSC executive body about converting that sports facility into one of three such multi-purpose facilities to be built across the country.
Funding for this is expected to come from the Government of China and discussions were also started on the process towards this becoming a reality.
However, there were initial concerns about the suitability of this structure to be located in central Mackenzie. A concept drawing is being done which will be presented to the Committee of

Management, which comprises the elected executives and others appointed to function on that Management Committee.
The Linden Mayor and Town Council and the Regional Democratic Council of Region 10 ((Upper Demerara/Upper Berbice), as instructed in a constitutional change in 2017, each appoints a representative who sits on the Committee of Management of the MSC. Additionally, a MSC General Members Meeting will be staged on Sunday, May 16, at 16:00hrs and the Committee of Management’s Monthly May Statutory Meeting on Thursday, May 20 from 17:00hrs. In a release all financial members are reminded that for such meetings a quorum comprises 50% of its financial members. Members are also asked to note “MSC RULES AND CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 6, MEMBERSHIP, Criteria (f) Cessation of rights of Members
Where the subscription or any other payment or fees payable to the MSC is outstanding for three months, such member shall cease to enjoy the rights and privileges of membership until such arrears are paid in full.” Further, arrears of three months shall cause the membership to cease after a full investigation.”
The last AGM and Biennial Elections were on June 30, 2019.
