Dear editor,
PLEASE allow us some space in your publication to express our deep and sincere appreciation to President Ali for his hands on and solution-driven approach to governance in Guyana. It is quite noticeable that this committed leader of the nation would find himself on the ground amid the many hotspots only to complement the work of his ministers in troubleshooting and providing immediate solutions to the myriad of inherited problems the populace has endured during the past five years. Mr. President has been direct, forceful and honest in initiating corrective actions for which those affected have been waiting for far too long.

A very important initiative by President Ali which has brought relief and satisfaction to the Hindu community on the important island of Leguan is his fulfillment of a promise he made and a commitment he undertook to ensure that their long-awaited crematorium would secure the necessary funding and will begin to be built in the very near future.

Thank you, Mr. President and thank you to the donor, The Ramroop Foundation. The people of this community shall always be grateful to you. Hoping that others will be as generous as you.

Of note is, not only did the President inspire the necessary donations, he implored on the community to make full use of the facility when completed and to ensure it would be properly utilised, managed and maintained. He called for all mandirs on the Island to assist in the functioning of the new facility.

The success of this new crematorium when in operation, along with the existing ones in West Coast Demerara and West bank Berbice could only be the trigger for other regions to pool their efforts and their resources in erecting such facilities across the country where needed and practical to be built.

Others who wish to cremate would also be very interested. The current government in all likelihood will assist by allocating lands to those who are serious in building their community crematoriums once the necessary conditions are met and guaranteed.
