2 more COVID-19 deaths, 14 new cases

GUYANA, on Sunday, recorded two more COVID-19 deaths, taking the country’s death toll since March 2020 to 229.

The Ministry of Health revealed that the latest fatalities were two women: a 67-year-old from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and a 63-year-old from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica).

They died while receiving care at a medical facility; these persons take the death toll for the month of March thus far to 30, making it one of the deadliest months for COVID-19 here.

Meanwhile, according to the ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard for March 29, a total of 14 new cases were recorded from 427 tests, taking the overall known cases to 10,182. Additionally, 43 new recoveries were recorded, taking the total number of recoveries to 8,922.

Of the 14 new cases, nine were men and five were women. Also, the cases were draw from Region Four (seven cases), Region Seven (five cases) and Region Ten (two cases).

Meanwhile, there are 1,075 active cases in Guyana; 14 of these cases are in institutional quarantine, 11 are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 54 are in institutional isolation and 996 are in home isolation.
