Trinidad player tests positive for COVID-19

… TTFA immediately isolates

A PLAYER from Trinidad and Tobago has tested positive for COVID-19, just 24 hours before Soca Warriors take on the Golden Jaguars in the Dominican Republic in the CONCACAF 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA), following the latest set of COVID-19 PCR testing for all members of the Men’s National Team contingent in Santo Domingo, there was a positive result for a player on the night of Tuesday, March 23.
The individual tested positive and was immediately isolated at the team’s hotel.
All COVID-19 protocols are being followed, the TTFA said, and he is currently awaiting a retest for confirmation purposes.
Strict contact tracing was then performed and all primary contacts have been quarantined. They would then be tested accordingly following the player’s retest results.
The TTFA said the player is asymptomatic. The identity of the player is not known, as the TTFA stated they are respecting the confidentiality wishes of the player.
