THE Everest Cricket Club (ECC) yesterday became the latest entity to support Fruta Conquerors Football Club’s 2021 CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield campaign.
Drawn in Group C of the tournament, set for April 23 – May 2 in Curaçao, Fruta Conquerors will face Hope International (St Vincent and the Grenadines) and Racing Club Aruba.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Manzoor Nadir, who is also the ECC president, made the presentation of $100 000 to Fruta Conquerors president Colin Gittens, expressing his delight in helping the country’s Elite League champions on their quest for regional club football success.
Gittens thanked Nadir and the ECC for “lending a helping hand to a club in need.”

Only recently the club launched a GoFundMe campaign to seek the generous support of football fans in Guyana.

It was stated that the club has a minimum working budget of $5M to cover their preparation for and participation in the tournament, including the cost of training and travel.

The GoFundMe campaign, which enables fans from all over the world to contribute with any size of donation to the team’s Club Shield journey via a secure online payment platform, can be accessed at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-fruta conquerors-in-the-caribbean-shield
