THE Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Friday announced that it has extended the tax- relief measures on medical and other supplies for COVID-19 prevention, care and treatment until June 30, 2021.
The items used for COVID-19 purposes will not attract any customs duty, Value Added Tax (VAT) and Excise tax (where necessary). The GRA, by way of a press release, noted that for VAT purposes, the items have been zero-rated, and as such, no tax should be passed onto customers.
The items under this tax relief include: COVID-19 test kits; diagnostic test instruments and apparatus; face and eye protection, including masks, gloves face shields, hair nets and other protective garments; thermometers; certain alcohol solutions; hand sanitisers; other disinfectants; rubbing alcohol, medical , surgical or laboratory sterilisers; hydrogen peroxide in bulk, as a medicant and to put in disinfectant preparations; other chemical disinfectants; multivitamins; soap and other medical equipment and supplies.
