The 2020 Noble House Seafoods Second-Division Two-Day cricket competition was expected to re-start with three matches this weekend.

EXTENSIVE rainfall yesterday hampered the much-anticipated re-start of cricket this weekend in the capital city.
After over a year of no-play, due to the pandemic, the Georgetown Cricket Association had to fulfil all the needed requirements by the COVID-19 Task Force before they could have re-started. According to Chairman of GCA Competitions Committee, Shaun Massiah, all systems were in place for a re-start this weekend, but due to the inclement weather and a lack of covers, the association was forced to postpone the re-start again.
On Wednesday, GCA had announced the continuation of their 2020 Noble House Seafoods Second-Division Two-Day cricket competition, which was last played in February of 2020.Three games were originally scheduled for two venues. Everest and the University of Guyana were expected to battle on Pitch Two on Queen’s College ground, with Bel Air RUBiS II and Third Class clashing on Pitch One.

The Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) were also scheduled to host Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) at their Woolford Avenue ground.
In January, Massiah had announced that the association intends to complete the 2020 competitions, before they move on to the 2021 events.
“New in the pipeline are: first division: 50 overs, Under-13, U-15, U-17, U-19 and U-23 competitions. Open T10, 1st & 2nd Division T20, and then the restart of 1st and 2nd Division two-day along with the 2nd division 40 overs.”
Some of the top clubs in the country compete under the GCA banner, including the Georgetown Cricket Club, Demerara Cricket Club, Everest Cricket Club, Malteenoes Sports Club and the Police Sports Club.
