Money transfer agents now able to cash pension vouchers

IN a bid to ease the hassle for senior citizens to uplift their monthly pension, the Human Services and Social Security Ministry (MoHSSS) has introduced an alternative to long lines and hours spent trying to cash pension vouchers.
Old-age pensioners can now redeem their vouchers at any MoneyGram/Surepay and BillExpress location countrywide.
A statement released by the ministry informed of the need for pensioners to walk with booklets and a form of Identification (ID) to complete the transaction.
The initiative fulfils a promise made by subject Minister, Dr. Vindhya Persaud and the PPP/C administration to improve service delivery to the elderly.
Aside from encashing vouchers at the money transfer agents, pensioners can access the service through their respective banking institutions or post offices.
Senior citizens continue to benefit from government initiatives, such as the reinstatement of water subsidies, and an increase in old-age pensions. The government has outlined a series of additional plans for enhancing service delivery to senior citizens in the recently approved 2021 Budget.
