DELVIN Heywood, a former employee of Banks DIH Limited, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday, charged with stealing over $200,000 from the company. Heywood, of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to larceny by clerk, and was granted $50,000 bail by Magistrate Leron Daly. The charge alleged that Heywood, on December 24, 2020, at Alberttown, Georgetown, being employed as a clerk or servant at Banks DIH, stole $233,220 cash. It is alleged that Heywood received the money from Natasha Dasrat on behalf of the company. At the time he was still an employee of Bank DIH. The cash was reportedly never handed over. An Investigation was launched and Heywood was charged for the offence. The matter was adjourned until April 30, 2021.
