THE Inter Religious Organisation of Guyana (IROG), on Wednesday, held its Annual General Meeting at the Bethany Christian Brethren Assembly Hall in Campbellville and executive officers were elected. Twelve of the organisation’s members were present for the election, which was done by secret ballot.
Reverend, Dr Ronald McGarrell of the Heavenly Parent Church was returned as the Chairman; Maulana Tasdeeq Aabidi of the Al-Mustafa Muslim Trust, Vice Chair; Jennifer Dewar of the Bahá’í Faith as Secretary; Rajmatti Nauth of the Hindu Faith as Treasurer; and Sidi Neil Bacchus, representative of the Muslim Youth League as Assistant Secretary/ Treasurer. Wendell Jeffrey, Pastor of Practical Christianity Ministries was re-elected as the Public Relations Officer and Ras Simeon of the Guyana Rastafari Council, Pastor Stanley Boodie of the Christian Brethren Church, Maulana Maqsood Mansoor of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at were elected as trustees.
The IROG comprises some 40 religious entities. The organisation was founded in 2003 and has as its motto “One human family under God”.
