RECOGNISING the challenges frontline workers are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic, the
US-based Guyana Essequibians Organisation, on Wednesday, donated protective supplies to the Department of Health Services in Region Two.

The masks and face shields will be distributed to the frontline workers attached to the hospitals at Suddie and Charity and the health centres and health posts across the region.

The organisation’s president, Indarjeet Paul told the Guyana Chronicle that members, in recognition of the challenges the health sector is facing, decided to purchase a quantity of face masks and shields.

“We would like our fellow Essequibians to know that we are aware of the struggles frontline workers face and as such, they need to be safe during the pandemic. We are also aware that supplies of critical protective gears dwindle. As such, we took the opportunity to send same,” Paul said.

Regional Executive Officer, Devanand Ramdatt, accepted the box of supplies on behalf of the health department. He said the donation was timely and that Regional Democratic Council (RDC) welcomes the support.

Ramdatt used the opportunity to thank the organisation for its humanitarian efforts.
